Project description
The timber frame arched bridge is made of glued larch wood. The self-supporting structure spans 38 meters and is mounted on concrete supports with micro piles. The roof consists of a textile membrane. A 500-ton mobile crane was used for the assembly of the 40-ton bridge. Moving the bridge to perfectly sit on the previously installed steel supports took 15 minutes. The new bridge over the Glatt river is accessible for disabled pedestrians, hikers and cyclists. It was officially inaugurated on 2 July 2016 and hand-ed over to the city of Opfikon.
