Project description
The «Wisdome» is an extension of the Tekniska Museet in Stockholm, with an innovative freeform roof. Due to sponsorship, the main material for the timber structure was LVL and CLT from Stora Enso. The roof structure is a bent on-site timber gridshell, constructed out of five crossing layers supported by pre-tensioned timber columns and spans with a maximum of about 47 metres. The layers each consist of 5 lamellas of LVL, which were
bent on-site into shape and held in place by wooden dowels and screws enabling loads to be transferred via contact. A part of the Wisdome project was also the inner dome, which has a diameter of approximately 20m, is completely made of CLT panels and will house a 3D-cinema.
