Project description
The Wisdome is an extension of the Tekniska Museet in Stockholm, with an innovative free-form roof. Due to sponsorship, the main material for the timber structure was LVL and CLT from Stora Enso. The roof structure is a bent-on-site timber gridshell, constructed out of five crossing layers supported by pre-tensioned timber columns and spans with a maximum lenght of about 47 metres. The layers each consist of five lamellas of LVL, which were bent info shape on site and held in place by wooden dowels and screws, enabling loads to be transferred via contact. Another part of the Wisdome project was the inner dome, which has a diameter of approximately 20m, is completely made of CLT panels and will house a 3D cinema.
