Project description
On Seine-Island there is an outstanding concert hall with a shell of wood and glass. The freely shaped wooden supporting structure measures 45x70m and spans freely up to the roof at a height of 30m. The glulam blanks were glued in 3-dimensional curves and all surfaces were precisely milled over with NC technology. Settlements in combination with brittle structures such as glass are an enormous challenge for concept and dimensioning. At the same time, architect Shigeru Ban demands connections that are as steel-free as possible.
